Department
The ILO/Korea Partnership Programme (I-KORP) in Asia and the Pacific is a cooperation programme between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Republic of Korea (ROK), aimed at promoting decent work and achieving social justice across the region. The programme supports ILO strategies through technical cooperation, policy support, capacity building, and knowledge sharing in priority areas such as Skills Development, Social Protection, Occupational Safety and Health, Just Transition, Youth Employment, and Social Dialogue.
Since the Republic of Korea became an ILO member state in 1991 and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the ILO in 2003, I-KORP has supported ILO priorities and Decent Work Country Programmes in the Asia-Pacific region through long-term cooperation. Over time, the programme has evolved from its earlier focus on Skills, Social Protection, and Occupational Safety and Health to a broader agenda covering emerging labour issues, including Just Transition in the paper and construction industries, Digital and Green Skills for youth, youth employment promotion, workplace innovation, and labour dispute prevention through Social Dialogue. The programme currently covers projects in Cambodia, the Philippines, Viet Nam, Thailand, Mongolia, and ASEAN.
The main objective of I-KORP is to provide technical support to governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations, and other stakeholders in Asia and the Pacific. Through research, capacity-building workshops, pilot projects, training programmes, and policy dialogue, I-KORP aims to strengthen decent work outcomes, promote sustainable and inclusive employment, and support social justice across the region.
