Backend Lead Software Engineer (L5)

Responsibilities

• Lead development of product features, experiments, technical initiatives, and complex systems.
• Shape architecture decisions and influence important technical decisions across the organization.
• Coach and influence distributed teams of engineers while improving productivity and effectiveness.
• Continuously improve system architecture, software design, code quality, and engineering practices.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code and support other engineers in doing the same.
• Collaborate with backend, client-side, and infrastructure teams to deliver technical solutions.
• Strengthen agile and scrum ways of working.
• Identify opportunities to enhance products, development processes, and engineering excellence.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building performance-critical applications in production environments using a JVM technology stack such as Java, Scala, or Kotlin.
• Proven experience leading projects, technical initiatives, or engineering teams with full ownership of the systems involved.
• Hands-on experience with data platforms such as SQL, Cassandra, or Hadoop, including selecting appropriate data solutions for application needs.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, software development, coding, and software architecture.
• Experience driving architectural decisions within a team.
• Ability to improve team productivity and effectiveness through KPI-driven engineering practices.
• Passion for software craftsmanship, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
